Capitol Area Council - Millennium Campout at Griffith League Ranch

What: Unit Campout
Where: Griffith League Ranch - The ranch is the newest Capitol Area Council property.  It is almost 5000 acres in size.  This may be your only chance to see this beautiful property for several months.  The council is just beginning to determine how the property will be developed and what the use guidelines will be.  Camping will be limited until this task is complete.  So, come on out to this event - you don't want to miss this opportunity!
When: January 29-30, 2000
Units arrive between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. on Saturday
Leave by 11:00 a.m. Sunday
Program: The focus of this campout will be to come out and have fun exploring the ranch.  Each unit will be given a map with an area of the ranch to explore.  Scouts will be asked to locate the significant natural features of their assigned area, as well as any historical artifacts they may find.  After dinner Saturday night there will be a campfire program conducted by the Order of the Arrow.  There will be an inter-faith worship service Sunday morning before we all head home.  Each unit will receive a flyer in the mail with more details and a registration form.  It is very important that you pre-register for this event.  Also, watch for more details in Scout Talk and attend your District Roundtable for the latest information as plans for this event are finalized.
Camping: This event is designed around unit camping.  Units are responsible for bringing their own food, water, and gear for the event.  Port-a-potties will be provided.  All Scouts and leaders should bring their own canteens and a trail lunch for Saturday.  Plan to eat your lunch on the trail to your unit's assigned area.
Cost: $5.00 to cover the cost of materials and port-a-potties.
