Troop 77 - Good Water Trail 2000
||Tuesday, May 30, 2000 and Wednesday, May 31, 2000
||The Good Water Trail is located at Lake
Georgetown, 4 miles west of Georgetown on FM 2338.
Our purpose is to:
- Prepare for our Lone Star Hiking Trail 2000 adventure.
- Learn by practice long distance hiking skills.
- Build Patrol and Troop teamwork.
- Work on advancement requirements.
||None. Bring your own food (see Food
|All persons, Scouts and adults, must
have a "Personal Health and Medical Record Form - Class 3"
completed. This requires a doctor's physical examination.
"Leave No Trace"
will be practiced. "Pack it in...pack it
|Bring your own food and snacks. Buddy system will be
used for cooking. Adult advisors may buddy up. Bring trail
foods. You will need two no-cooking-required lunches, one supper, one
breakfast, and snacks.|

Meals" handout for some ideas. You will need about 1.5 times
the food which you normally eat at home, plus snacks.|
|You will need containers for two quarts of water, plus a
water treatment system, e.g., iodine tablets, iodine crystals, water
purifier, or clorox. There is water available, but it must be treated.|

||Meet at JRS Exxon
store, FM 1431 & Lohman Ford Rd.
||Depart. Route: East
on FM 1431 to I-35, north on I-35 through Georgetown, northwest on
FM 2338 for 3.5 miles to Cedar Breaks Rd., south 2 miles to park
entrance. Follow signs to Cedar Breaks Park and trailhead.
||Arrive at trailhead.
Shove off on Good Water Trail. Hike to
Texas Camp (11 miles)
||Arrive at Texas Camp. Make
||Reveille & breakfast
||Shove off for Russell Park (5
||Lunch at Russell Park
||Rendezvous for trip home.
